Hey everyone, Nicole Coustier from Aurelian Coaching. Today I want you to get everything you want.

Everything you want.

I want you to start giving yourself permission to even identify “What is the best, most perfect ideal scenario for myself?” when you’re making a decision.

Often we don’t give ourselves permission to even come up with that scenario. So often when making a decision about our careers, about our lives, we are considering the options that are presented to us by external circumstances and external parties, where we had very little say on those options that are on the table. And listen, when a decision is obvious, beautiful. Go ahead and make that decision, fantastic.

That’s not what I’m talking about.

What I’m talking about is the situation that a lot of my clients are in, which is, “I don’t know how to pick among all the different options. There are trade offs, and there are pros and cons, and it’s not obvious!”

Listen, when it’s not obvious what you should choose, that is a huge clue that you should be putting a totally different option on the table for yourself.

Now, this is separate from proceeding with a totally different option. All I’m saying is: just take the step to create a different option. If you like part of option A and part of option B, what does it look like to get the things that you love about those two options and leave off all the things that you don’t love about those options? That is your option C. Go ahead and outline what that looks like.

And then when you’re able to just articulate to yourself sometimes – it doesn’t even need to be articulated to anybody else, but when you are able to communicate to yourself, “Wow, this, this would be the best, this would lead to work-life balance, this would lead to making more money with fewer hours at work, this would mean that I could catapult my career more effectively, more efficiently, any of those things…”

Wow, that’s pretty powerful.

It is a separate question to then ask, “Well, how much do I really want that and can I make that happen?” But you can’t even get to the second question without first creating your own option C. So that’s what I really encourage all of you to do.

I’ve been practicing this in my own life, no question, whenever there are a couple of options on the table where they’re not great, and I start evaluating trade offs in my head, I’ve got to stop. I’ve got to stop!

When I start negotiating trade offs, that means that I should really be creating something totally separate for myself and then considering, “Can I make that thing happen? Can I make that thing happen for my career, for my family, for my own growth?” That’s a very, very powerful thing. So take something in your life currently that you’ve been struggling with.

And it doesn’t have to be a huge thing. It can be a small thing. A really small thing. And see if you can create that option C for yourself. Just give yourself permission to say, “What would it look like if I had all the things I wanted? What would it look like if I got a completely ideal scenario for me and the people I love?” It is a beautiful, powerful thing.
